French star Jean-Paul Belmondo died at 88

Jean-Paul Belmondo has sadly passed away at the age of 88.

The famous French actor was the star of Breathless, which debuted in 1960.

According to the AP, his lawyer Michelle Godest’s office confirmed his death on Monday, although no cause of death was given.

Jean-Paul played football and trained as a boxer before dropping out of school at the age of 16 to become an actor. He trained at the Paris Conservatory in the 1950s.

He received an Honorary Palme d’Or at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival, an Honorary Golden Lion at the 2016 Venice Film Festival and an Honorary Cesar in 2017.

In addition to Breathless, Jean-Paul also starred in A Man and His Dog, The Professional and 1995’s Les Miserables.

Jean-Paul, who recovered from a in 2001, has three children, Florence, Paul and Stella Eva Angelina. Another daughter, Patricia, died in 1994.
