Britney Spears’ legal team is reacting to this big news.
Matthew Rosengart released a statement Tuesday (Sept. 7) after Jamie Spears petitioned to end her daughter’s patronage after more than a decade.

In the statement, via NBC News, he called the petition a major legal victory and “retaliation” for Britney.
“It appears that Mr. Spears believes he can try to avoid accountability and justice, including sitting for a sworn deposition and answering other discovery under oath, but as we assess his filing — which was inappropriately sent to the media before it was served on counsel — we will also continue to explore all options,” he continued.
Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Brenda Penney was expected to rule on the petition during a hearing on September 29.
