“Some people made the whole movie about one slap” Kiara Advani on Kabir Singh

Kabir Singh, a remake of the Vijay Devarakonda’s Telugu superhit film Arjun Reddy, was released in 2019 starring Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani as the lead actors. Kabir Singh was one of the most critically acclaimed films of 2019. But, despite its superb script, the film and star cast received backlash. In the film, in one scene, Shahid alias Kabir slaps Kiara aka Preeti and the scene of the slap creates an uproar. Post, which was a debate on women’s rights and male domination.

Recently, Kiara talked about the entire backlash episode and said that she had feared it, but was not aware of it. Kiara also said that for her, the scene showed strength in Preeti. The actress also said that she felt “unfortunate” for those who commented on the misunderstanding.

Kiara actually appeared on Neha Dhupia’s chat show No Filter Neha and talked about the whole Kabir Singh backlash. “Unfortunately, some people just made the slap, the whole movie about one slap. It was not about one slap. That’s not something that I stand for. And, that’s not something that I would ever stand for and that’s not something Preeti stood for, either,” said Kiara.

Talking about the apprehension of backlash, the actress said that she was not expecting it due to the massive audience of Bollywood. Kiara also said that she was nervous before the release of the film as she was expecting a backlash. Kiara concludes by saying that for her the end of the film changed all the differences, showing a different side of the story.

On the work front, Kiara was last seen in Netflix Guilty and was praised for her role. After this, actress will appear alongside Akshay Kumar in the comedy-horror Laxmmi Bomb. The film will be released on an OTT platform.
