OTT release of Tanuj Virwani and Meera Chopra’s ‘Kamathipura’ postponed

Sharing is caring!

Actor Tanuj Virwani, who made a mark with his acting as cricketer Vayu Raghavan in the show, Inside Edge, was soon to make a comeback with another show called Kamathipura. But the implementation of recent information and broadcast guidelines has proved to be a set back for its OTT release.

The actor is set to play the role of the antagonist on the show alongside Meera Chorpa, who plays the role of a cop. They were gearing up for release on March 8. But according to a report by Bollywood Hungama, the hard-hitting series was put on hold by Disney + Hotstar to avoid any controversy or moral policing. This article also shows that the series contains“profusion of unparliamentary language and scenes of prolonged violence”.

Here is the trailer of Kamathipura:

Speaking about this sudden decision, Tanuj says that he is shocked but the makers of his show have informed him that it should be done because of the new OTT guidelines. He also says that the show will be ready to stream in a few days.

When asked about the impact of the guidelines that will have on the OTT content, Tanuj says that if it is done in a logical and impartial manner, it will not cause too much obstruction in the content. But they say that because some manufacturers pushed the creative freedom that the platform provided them with in terms of language and violence, others are now “suffering a collateral damage”.
