Sharing is caring!

When you grow up in a country as culturally and religiously diverse as India, you are bound to be influenced by more than one culture and religion? Our Desi Girl, Priyanka Chopra Jonas is no different. The actress shared in a recent interview with Oprah Winfrey that her upbringing was influenced by Hindu, Christian and Islam cultures.

The actress was in talks with Oprah in the release of her memoir, Unfinished. Oprah, who said that her book reminded her of her time in India, asked the PCs about her spiritual beliefs and if she had a ‘spiritual foundation’. ‘About this the actress said that she did, noting that she lives in a country like India which has ‘swirling number of religions’.

In the promo to the episode, we see PC saying:

You’re right. With the swirling number of religions that we have, that live within the country as well. I grew up in a convent school. I was aware of Christianity. My dad used to sing in a mosque, I was aware of Islam. I grew up in a Hindu family, I was aware of that. Spirituality is such a large part of India that you really cannot ignore it.

Speaking about her personal beliefs when it comes to spirituality, PC says:

I am a Hindu. I pray, I have a temple at my home, I do it as often as I can. But truly to me, I am a believer that a higher power does exist and I like to have faith in that.
