Jonathan Major is getting candid about joining the MCU!
While Marvel has a reputation for putting actors through a lengthy audition process, Jonathan revealed that the process for joining the cast of the upcoming Ant-Man film was pretty straightforward.
In fact, he didn’t even have to audition!
Jonathan shared that the Marvel exec wanted him to play Kang the Conqueror for a while in an interview with Total Film (via Looper).
He thinks Marvel saw him after his role in The Last Black Man in San Francisco but said he “can’t say it was that film at all” that cast him without an audition.
“The Marvel team has their ways,” Jonathan said. “It’s very much like getting a role in drama school. They’re just watching. You don’t audition for roles. You get into drama school, then the dean will watch what you’re doing. If they wanted you, you get tapped. That’s kind of what happened.”
