Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is on top again!
The Marvel superhero film once again ruled the domestic box office at No. 1 over the weekend until Sunday (September 19), reports Variety.
The film grossed $21 million in its third weekend of release, down 39% from the previous weekend. Overall, it has so far managed to make an impressive $176.9 million at the domestic box office.
Shang-Chi is now on track to become the first pandemic-era release to cross $200 million in North America, and has already become the second highest-grossing film of the year in the US and Canada, behind F9: The Fast Saga. In the next few days, it should replace Black Widow as the highest-grossing film of 2021.
The film stars Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, a young superhero whose journey of self-discovery unfolds in this never-before-seen origin story.
The film also stars Tony Leung as Wenwu, Awkwafina as Shang-Chi’s friend Katy, and Michelle Yeoh as Jiang Nan, as well as Fala Chen, Meng’er Zhang, Florian Munteanu, and Ronny Chieng.
