Debbie Allen is accepting a big award.
The 71-year-old star accepted The Governors Award at the 2021 Emmy Awards on The Event Deck at LA Live in Los Angeles on Sunday (September 19).
The Governors Award is the highest award conferred by the ATAS, which honors the achievements of an individual, company or organization whose work is associated with the urgency of the current achievement.
“It’s been many years in the making. It’s taken a lot of courage to be the only woman in the room most of the time. A lot of courage, and creativity, and fight and faith to believe I could keep going, and I have, and I’ve brought a lot of people with me,” she said.
