Hannah Waddingham was so happy and surprised about winning her first award at the 2021 Emmy Awards over the weekend, that she didn’t even hear Seth Rogen misspelling her name.
Presenting the first award of the night for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, Seth actually pronounced the Ted Lasso actress’s last name as “Waddington.”
Backstage, Hannah was exposed to the incorrect pronunciation and joked with reporters.
“I didn’t hear that. It’s brand new information,” she told the room.
Hannah’s co-star Brett Goldstein, who also won for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series, said, “He’s dead.”
“Oh man,” she replied. “I’ll have to call him Seth Ragin.”
This mistake is reminiscent of John Travolta’s misspelling of Idina Menzel’s name at the Oscars.
