Fans were shocked earlier this summer when it was revealed that Emily VanCamp would be leaving The Resident.
The 35-year-old actress plays Nick Nevin, Conrad’s wife and nurse practitioner, who is attempting to navigate parenthood, marriage, and work-life balance.
Now, showrunner Peter Elkoff is opening up about when his last episodes will air, and how they’ll be written.
However, he doesn’t want to spill anything.
“We didn’t have conversations because of the circumstances of her personal life,” he shared with Entertainment Tonight.
Peter said he doesn’t want to spoil the exit with Emily’s fans, and wants them to tune into the season to see how it goes.
“I want it to be unexpected for the audience and want the audience to get to that place organically without any foreknowledge. So I guess I’m not going to say anything.”
Emily revealed that she was leaving the show soon after welcoming her first child with husband Josh Bowman.
