Robert Durst has been accused of of his wife, Cathy Durst, in 1982.

THR reports that officials confirmed the news on Friday (22 October).

Cathy was 29 years old at the time of her disappearance on January 31, 1982. His body was never recovered, and his family requested that he be declared legally dead in 2017.

“The Westchester County District Attorney’s Office can confirm that a complaint charging Robert Durst with the murder of Kathleen Durst was filed in Lewisboro Town Court on October 19, 2021. We have no further comment at this time,” the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office said in a statement.

Robert divorced Kathy in 1990, citing abandonment. Despite years of efforts to close the case, he was never charged with his disappearance.

Earlier this month, he was sentenced to life in prison for Susan Berman’s . She was found dead in her home in December 2000 and Los Angeles County prosecutors tried to prove that he killed her because she knew something about Cathy’s death.

The first degree conviction and sentence comes more than six years after he confessed arguably to murdering both women on hot mic during the filming of the documentary, The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst .

In the documentary, he can be heard murmuring:  “You’re caught… what the hell did I do? Killed them all, of course.”  He claims that he was high on meth when he confessed.
