Debra Messing is defending her friend Alec Baldwin after a tragic accident on the set of her upcoming western film Rust.
Alec discharges a prop gun that accidentally kills the film’s cinematographer Helena Hutchins and seriously injures director Joel Souza.
Conservative media personality Benny Johnson tweeted about the story and claimed that a criminal investigation is underway. Officials have said that no charges are being filed.
“BREAKING: Alec Baldwin kills person with gun, criminal investigation underway,” Benny tweeted. He added, “This is the accurate headline fyi.”
Debra responded to the tweet to defend Alec.
“It is absolutely NOT. A prop gun was handed to him . He used it in the scene. Then- a catastrophic event happened where Halnya Hutchins lost her life and Joel Souza was injured. I am praying for all of their families,” Debra tweeted.
Debra and Alec have worked together several times throughout the years during their frequent guest appearances on Will & Grace.
