Sharing is caring!

The producers of the upcoming film Rust are speaking after the painful accident on the set.

It is reported that actor Alec Baldwin discharged a prop gun while rehearsing a scene on Thursday (October 21) and it accidentally killed cinematographer Halyana Hutchins and injured director Joel Souza.

Hours before the tragic accident, Alec shared the first photo from the film’s set in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

The makers of the film are mourning the loss of Halina and talking about the future of the film.

“The entire cast and crew has been absolutely devastated by today’s tragedy, and we send our deepest condolences to Halyna’s family and loved ones,” a spokesperson for Rust Movies Productions LLC told Deadline.

“We have halted production on the film for an undetermined period of time and are fully cooperating with the Santa Fe Police Department’s investigation,” the statement continued. “We will be providing counseling services to everyone connected to the film as we work to process this awful event.”

Fans are pointing out how similar the situation is to the tragic death of actor Brandon Lee in 1993, and his family has already issued a statement about the incident.
